Degrees with recognised prestige
Graduates from the School of Engineering introduce themselves as ICAI engineers regardless of their area of specialization, because they know the prestige ICAI enjoys among the leading companies. They form part of a network of thousands of ICAI engineers that treat you as if you were classmates and who occupy a variety of posts throughout the world. It is of inestimable value. It is a privilege to study at ICAI, a centre known for its excellent academic credentials and the confidence it inspires with more than 100 years experience preparing engineers.

Immediate job placement in top positions
Representatives from leading companies come to recruit our students and offer them jobs even before they have completed their studies. An ICAI engineer can choose where to work (Survey on the Job Situation of ICAI Engineers, ICAI Engineer Association) and their starting salaries are higher than the national average for Industrial Engineers (Survey on Job Placement, ANECA).
In practice, all ICAI engineers find jobs. For example, the number of job offers for recent ICAI graduates was twice as high as the number of students graduating (Comillas Internship and Careers Office).

ICAI graduates - engineers with high professional goals
Five ICAI engineers are ranked among the one hundred most highly regarded executives in the Spanish Monitor of Corporate Reputation (MERCO-2008) prepared by Villafañe and Associates based on interviews to over 12,000 Spanish executives working in 2,850 companies.
These include: Ignacio Sánchez Galán, from Iberdrola, ranked in 6th position; Amparo Moraleda, from Iberdrola, ranked in 10th position; Fernando Conte, from Iberia, ranked in 33th position; Rafael Miranda, from Endesa, ranked in 61st position y Magda Salarich Fernández, from Grupo Santander, ranked in 78th position.

Excellent academic achievement
The initial selection process for admission, the academic norms, the dedication of the teaching staff, the spirit of companionship and the study environment enable ICAI students to excel academically, obtaining academic results which are far higher than the average results obtained by engineering students in Spain.
 - While the dropout rate is nearly 90% in Spanish schools of engineering (EL MUNDO, 12/01/2005), less than 25% of ICAI students abandon their studies.
 - While on average, it takes an engineering student 7.27 years to complete a five-year engineering degree and 5.78 years to complete a three-year technical degree (Ministry of Education and Science, University Statistics), at ICAI, on average, students complete their five years of study in Industrial and Computer Engineering in 5.9 years and take 3.9 years to complete a three-year technical degree.
 - 5% of the students at ICAI have been awarded a scholarship for academic excellence by the Madrid regional government, which makes ICAI the institution with the largest percentage of students with high academic achievement officially recognised by the Madrid Autonomous Community.

Well-rounded education
An ICAI engineer not only efficiently resolves complex problems or carries out complex tasks efficiently and systematically, but he is also capable of teamwork organizing, managing and directing projects or communicating clearly and precisely. At ICAI we seek to prepare well-rounded engineers, developing both their intellectual and professional capacity, without neglecting qualities such as willpower, responsibility, critical awareness, ethics and values. Consult the Diploma in Professional skills.

Personalised attention
ICAI teachers know their students given that the groups are small (40 students in lecture classes and 15 in practical courses). Teachers meet with students and answer their questions on a personal level, spending over 20,000 hours on tutorial sessions every year. In addition, each group has a tutor in charge of monitoring each student's academic and personal progress. There is also an academic review board in which the teachers of each group of students individually assess their academic standing. The personalised attention and follow-up of each student's progress are some of the reasons that enable ICAI to have a low dropout rate and, at the same time, maintain its high academic standards.

Spirit of companionship and study environment
One of the aspects that sets ICAI apart from other schools of engineering which is highly-valued by our students is the excellent spirit of companionship and its optimal study environment. ICAI succeeds in helping new students to quickly adapt to the demands of their engineering studies by offering introductory orientation courses before they begin the degree so that they can meet their new classmates and their future teachers. Outside regular class hours, study sessions in small groups are organised in which students with academic excellence scholarships help first year students with their most difficult subjects. At ICAI we also try to foster a group spirit and a sense of belonging to their class, given that, after second year, students normally pass to the following year with all their classmates. This spirit of companionship is a permanent stimulus to study and to overcome the constant challenge that a degree in engineering represents. These ties of friendship are later carried over to ICAI engineers' professional lives.

International exchanges
At ICAI we are fully aware that our engineers will one day have to work in an international and multicultural environment. This is why were offer students the possibility of taking technical courses in English and of spending time abroad studying at some of the top Schools of Engineering around the wourld. These exchanges help the student mature both personally and professionally as well as enabling them to master other languages.
ICAI is one of the founders of TIME (Top Industrial Managers for Europe), a network which consists of the most prestigious schools of Industrial Engineering in Europe and which allows our students to obtain double degrees from two European universities. In addition, we have exchange agreements with over 100 foreign universities.
All this means that every year, over 5% of ICAI students spend an entire school year studying abroad, a percentage which is far higher than that of any other Spanish university.

Different designs of studies plan
The School caters for the students' various academic interests and abilities by providing a variety of training programmes:
- International plan: Bachelor in Engineering, with a place reserved in the Master's programme and, subject to meeting the academic requirements, a guaranteed placement abroad if desired. The students of this study plan can opt for a double degree gaining the Degree through Comillas ICAI and through the host university.
- National plan: Bachelor in Engineering, with a place reserved in the Master's programme and with an opportunity to study part of the Degree abroad subject to academic performance.

Relationship with companies. Practical training
ICAI engineers receive strong practical training and the courses are clearly oriented towards the world of business.
 - Many of our subjects have a practical component that is offered in our laboratories, which also serves to stimulate teamwork and a sense of responsibility.
-We have internship and work-placement agreements with over 2500 companies and over 20% of our students do paid work placements every year.
 - In many cases, students do their Final Year Project in companies while they are working on real projects. Proof of the quality of these projects is that top companies such as Endesa, Iberdrola, Deloitte, BARLOWORLD-FINANZAUTO, Cátedra British Petroleum de Desarrollo Sostenible Accenture, Management Solutions or Asociación/Colegio de Ingenieros del ICAI (ICAI's Engineers Association ), annually give awards to the best Final Year Projects.
The close relationship with ICAI's Engineers Association has bolstered relations between the School and all the business sectors in which our Engineers work.
