Professional Career management for university master's degree courses

Comillas Pontifical University aims to maintain and consolidate its tradition of excellence and quality in line with the most prestigious international universities. Thus, the Career Management Service (CMS), which was introduced as a pilot scheme in the academic year 2008-9, has been created to complement the academic programmes for most of its university master's degree courses.

The main objective of this innovative and unique service is to equip students with the best possible tools for them to become employed.

In order to meet this objective, the programme specifically explores the following key aspects:

  • Self-assessment tools.
  • Labour Market Research.
  • Networking.
  • Writing CV and cover letters.
  • Interview preparation.

Goals of the CMS

  • Enhancing the master's degree student profile within the employment market by Comillas Pontifical University, through training tools and follow-up mechanisms.
  • Developing a programme specifically tailored to suit each master's degree student that will enable them to focus their efforts on maximising their strengths, working on areas for improvement as well as optimising their professional performance.
  • Motivating master's degree students to achieve their professional goal within the employment market.

Activities

Student self-assessment questionnaire:
All university master's degree students must complete two self-assessment questionnaires. These tools allow them time for reflection and introspection in order to establish improvement steps.

Group sessions:
All students will take part in four group sessions for each master's degree course:

  • Career advice.
  • Labour Market Research.
  • CV and cover letter.
  • Selection interviews.

Personalised training:
A mock selection process will be carried out. Those selected will attend mock interviews with experts from the sector within which they wish to work. The rest will attend general interview workshops in small groups.
