Sophia Iberia in Europe
How to participate
-
The Sophia Iberia in Europe Project is a call for participation. Only a
response to participate will make it possible for the project to be carried out
as expected. The motivation to participate lies in the importance of the themes
to be debated and in the open design of the project, which sincerely offers
participation from different ideologies and personal, scientific, philosophical
and religious positions.
-
Sophia Iberia has opted for a method based on an exchange of thoughts and ideas
written on papers, to assure a higher quality. The normal form of participation
in the reflection opened up by the project will be done through written papers.
It will also be possible to directly contact Sophia Iberia or to make any
enquiries or suggestions.
-
In order to ensure dialogue and interaction, Sophia Iberia will also endeavor
to respond to the papers that are presented, whether these are published
on-line or not.
-
Sophia Iberia is open to the participation of the public in general, regardless
of whether these are involved in universities, teaching, and research or are
professionals of different disciplines.

Choice of activity for participation papers
Web-based Workshop and Academic Conference
-
The participation papers must be sent as an attached document. The e-mail text or letter of presentation, will state whether the paper is for the web-based workshop or for the academic conference. They must be sent to the address corresponding to each case (see below). If no information is given, the participation papers received will be considered to be intended for the web-based workshop. All the participation papers, those for the web-based workshop and those for the academic conference, will be published on-line. However, those which are accepted for the conference will form part of the documentation of this event and if to be presented, the author must attend in person.
Style of the participation papers
The contribution of ideas with precise language
-
The general style
is the style which is normal in academic papers given at university workshops
and conferences. Clarity, precision, simplicity and depth are recommended so
that the contributions are understandable for the majority of the readers.
These requirements are important as the workshop is international and
multidisciplinary, not all the readers will have the same scientific specialty
and, therefore, it cannot be taken for granted that they know the specific
terminology of certain scientific fields.
-
Length. Each paper will have a brief description
(around a 100 words) and a number of "key words", a summary
(around 800 words) and the main text (maximum ten pages and/or 5,000 words).
The paper must conclude with the name of the author and a brief professional
profile or curriculum vitae (100 words maximum), his postal address and e-mail
address.
-
There may be more extensive papers, but this will depend on the circumstances
and the quality. If an intervention is complex, it may better to divide it into
two or three parts which are adapted to the general style of the workshop. An
author may also contribute as many papers as he wishes and may participate in
several sessions.
-
Language. The official language of Sophia Iberia is English.
However, papers drafted in Spanish will also be admitted, but the description
and summary must be in English.
Themes of the participation papers
Human evolution from its anthropic roots
In general the themes must be related to the theme of the Sophia Iberia in
Europe Project, that is to say, "Human evolution from its anthropic roots"
(see: Presentation, themes). This may involve an approach which is preferably:
a) scientific, b) philosophical, c) theological, d)
scientific-philosophical-theological. All of these will be allowed on condition
that they have a connection with the general focus of Sophia Iberia.
The themes for participation are those of the sessions of the workshop:
The framework documents prepared for each of the sessions (see "web-based
workshop" and "academic conference") provide a general overview of the ideas
and problems which, although they are not intended to be complete or to
predetermine the analysis, only endeavor to initially suggest the fundamental
problems and help to orientate participation through papers.
Selection and dialogue
A balance of quality and accessibility for dialogue
-
The publication committee will act with the criteria of quality and
accessibility which permits the maximum participation. To do so, it will be
advised by external, independent advisers.
-
The executive committee of Sophia Iberia will issue the official participation
certificates to the authors who request them.
-
The preparation of the books which the activities give rise to will be done by
selecting the highest quality documents. The on-line publication does not
involve a commitment to publish in book form.
